Job Summary

Are you passionate about high-quality food, presentation and exceptional service? We’re looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused Food & Beverage Manager to set standards, shape a high-end catering offer and establish a consistent brand experience for our patients, visitors and staff. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our new café and oversee both front- and back-of-house operations, helping to elevate our service across both hospice sites.

The Role

The role oversees menu development, team leadership, and service standards to ensure consistency and excellence in every interaction. Working collaboratively with clinical teams, facilities, and event coordinators, the Food and Beverage Manager ensures compliance with food safety standards and health and safety legislation, manages budgets and resources effectively, and drives continuous improvement to create a distinctive, high-quality experience for all who use the service.

The Food and Beverage Manager will:

  • Lead and support the catering and reception teams, ensuring effective staffing and high service standards.
  • Drive service improvement and contribute to delivering the Estates and Facilities Strategy.
  • Gather and act on feedback from patients, visitors and staff.
  • Maintain a consistent, restaurant-quality offer across both sites.
  • Plan and deliver catering projects on time and within budget.
  • Implement and use electronic systems to support modernisation.
  • Ensure robust procedures and service continuity.
  • Oversee patient meal services, including nutrition and dietary needs.
  • Manage staff dining, cafés, stock and customer experience.
  • Support staff development through training and clear pathways.
  • Coordinate catering for hospice events.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety and health & safety requirements.

Requirements

The Food and Beverage Manager will have:

  • Catering qualification from a recognised provider, or sufficient experience demonstrating equivalent competencies
  • Experience managing catering operations across multiple services (e.g., patient meals, staff dining, cafés, events)
  • Experience working in a restaurant, hotel, or similar environment
  • Familiarity with stock control, ordering systems, and equipment maintenance
  • Experience using electronic systems for data management and reporting
  • Exposure to customer feedback processes and service improvement initiatives
  • Experience delivering high-quality buffets, functions, and events
  • IT literacy, particularly Microsoft 365, including electronic data systems

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS Check at the level appropriate to the role, the cost of which is covered by the hospice. Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures.
