Job Summary

The Role

The Management Accountant/Payroll will:

  • Be responsible for the production of St Ann’s Hospice and St Ann’s Hospice Trading Company Limited monthly management accounts to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Including,
  1. Bank reconciliations
  2. Prepayments / Accruals
  3. Deferred / accrued income
  • Investigate budget variances and provide robust analysis to Finance Manager.
  • Respond to queries from Department Managers.
  • Maintain records and reconciliation to produce the Trading Company VAT Return on a quarterly basis and assist with the Hospice annual reclaim.
  • Be responsible for processing starters/leavers and other contractual changes to employee payroll on advised by People and Culture.
  • Be responsible for adjustment to employee salaries, benefits and deductions.
  • Be responsible for the collation and import of department timesheets to pay enhancement and overtime.
  • Knowledge of pension schemes and HMRC guidelines and deadlines.
  • Utilize system reports to review payroll and discuss anomalies with the Finance manager.
  • Provide support to ensure purchase ledger invoices are processed in accordance to policy, completing monthly reconciliation’s and producing a suggested payments report.
  • Assist with the production of year end Statutory Accounts for both Hospice and Trading Company.
  • Check gift aid claims ready for submission.
  • Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the submitting of information to auditors and tax advisors and responding to their queries.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with the monitoring of working capital for both the Hospice and Trading company on a monthly basis.

Requirements

The Management Accountant/Payroll will have:

  • Be a qualified member of an accountancy body, a holder of an equivalent qualification or have extensive experience which supports this level of knowledge.
  • Has extensive experience in the production of both management accounts and statutory accounts.
  • Have experience in the preparation of VAT Returns and payroll
  • Strong IT skills, be proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills both written and verbally.
  • Attend appropriate courses to ensure continue professional development.

The Management Accountant/Payroll will be able to:

  • Work independently to achieve deadlines, prioritize responsibilities and be self motivating.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in the production of management accounts and statutory accounts.
  • Analyse and evaluate management information.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbally.
  • Travel independently to other hospice sites.

The Role

The Registered Nurse will:

  • Take overall responsibility for the coordination and safe effective management of the Inpatient Unit (IPU) on a shift-by-shift basis as delegated by the IPU Manager / Sister / Charge Nurse.
  • Undertake comprehensive health care needs assessment of patients, reassessing as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals in the delivery of high standards of effective holistic care.

Job Summary

We have an established medical team with links to Salford Royal, Manchester, and Stockport Foundation Trusts.  We provide medical care to the 18 beds at Heald Green and 18 beds at Little Hulton but also support Being You Centre, Outpatient Services and a 24-hour advice line.

This post will play an integral role in delivering holistic care to our patients on the inpatient unit and supporting audit and quality improvement activities.  Our Specialty Doctors also help us support the training of medical students and postgraduate doctors.

We are developing our medical workforce to meet the demands of a modern specialist palliative care unit and have an exciting opportunity to appoint to a Specialty Doctor post across the organisation.

This post is primarily based at the Little Hulton site.  There may be occasions where you are required to work cross-site.

The Role

The Specialty Doctor will:

  • Be responsible for maintenance of the highest possible standard of medical care for patients
  • Assist in the daily management of patients on the inpatient unit including practical procedures such as venepuncture and intravenous infusions
  • Undertake initial and ongoing assessments on the inpatient unit, using the electronic patient record.
  • Support may also be provided to the Being You Centre, where medical assessments are required
  • Be involved in the provision of 1 in 5 first on call at Little Hulton with Consultant  2nd on-call.
  • First on-call will involve non-resident on-call in evenings and overnight, with ward round on the weekend
  • Working closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team enabling a holistic approach to patient care
  • Participate and lead education, training, quality improvement and research activities.
  • Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development, appraisal and revalidation activities.
  • Liaise with, and provide advice to members of the Primary Healthcare Team concerning admissions and the 24-hour advice line.
  • Adopt appropriate management responsibilities when required.

Requirements

The Specialty Doctor will:

  • Be fully registered with the GMC
  • Have an MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • Have at least two years of experience in a relevant specialty or possess equivalent experience or competencies
  • Have a minimum of four years’ experience since qualifying
  • Ideally hold MRCGP, MRCP or equivalent
  • Ideally hold a Degree or Diploma in Palliative Care
  • Have multidisciplinary team working skills have a specific interest in palliative medicine and a desire to develop skills further
  • Demonstrate a breadth of experience in clinical practice
  • Be able to demonstrate personal involvement in audit and quality improvement, as well as ideally research

The Specialty Doctor will be able to:

  • Communicate clearly and sensitively with patients, families and colleagues and ideally have undertaken advanced communication skills training
  • Be sensitive to patients’ spiritual and psychological needs
  • Understand the importance of audit, research and quality improvement in the continuing development of clinical practice
  • Show awareness of their own limitations
  • Teach undergraduates, postgraduates and other health professionals and formal training in teaching would be desirable
  • Demonstrate organisational skills and an ability to prioritise
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the importance of clinical governance
  • Show an understanding of voluntary sector funding and organization
  • Attend the hospice within 45-60 minutes when on call.
  • Use a non-judgemental approach to patients and colleagues
  • Show IT skills to manage the electronic patient record, clinical skills and Microsoft Office
  • Meet professional health requirements

You will need to be willing to support the needs of our residents and have a good understanding of the importance of ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors:

The Role

  • Help in the provision of the Housekeeping function for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness for all patients, staff and visitors.
  • Be responsible for the correct use of equipment.
  • Support the housekeeper with implementation of the NHS 2021 National standards in healthcare cleanliness.
  • Comply with the NHS 2021 National standards in healthcare cleanliness.
  • Adhere to infection control and COVID-19 standards.
  • Ensure high use areas are kept clean.
  • Follow the national standards of colour coding and COSHH regulations.
  • Deputise for the housekeeping supervisor when required.
  • Be responsible for accurately completing room completion check sheets.

Requirements

The Housekeeping Assistant will have:

  • Have previous experience in a similar role.
  • Will possess or be willing to develop knowledge to ensure the hospice environment is clean and safe and facilitates the need for patients.
  • Have experience in cleaning methodologies and techniques (Full training will be given).
  • Hold an NVQ in Housekeeping, or equivalent or willingness to work towards.
  • Have basic level of IT skills, with willingness to develop.
  • To cover other duties when required.
  • Be prepared to undertake further training courses as required.
  • Be able to organise their time and prioritise activities.

The Housekeeping Assistant will be able to:

  • Show enthusiasm for the role and will take pride in delivery of a first class support service.

The Role

Requirements

The Personal Assistant will have:

  •  Extensive PA/Administrative experience with a high level of competence acquired through both training and experience.
  • Appropriate Secretarial qualifications e.g. RSA Stage 3 or equivalent
  • Ideally have RSA shorthand 80/100 WPM or equivalent
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
