The Role

The Bank Specialist Occupational Therapist will:

  • Assess and develop occupational Therapy treatment plans to meet the needs of a range of patients with palliative care/life limiting conditions in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Lead, assess, plan and facilitate timely and effective discharges from the in-patient unit in conjunction with the MDT.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to promote and assist the delivery of effective personalised rehabilitation services.
  • Support student and assistant practitioner learning and education when on duty.
  • Be aware of and contribute to delivering and maintaining the requirements of the Care Quality Commission.
  • Facilitate group programmes/ sessions on topics relevant to the profession of Occupational Therapy.
  • Use the incident reporting system appropriately.
  • Support the collection of relevant data and patient feedback to assist with service development and organisational needs.
  • Maintain their own professional development in line with HCPC requirements.

Requirements

The Bank Specialist Occupational Therapist will:

  • Hold a diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with HCPC
  • Have post registration clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist including working with people with long-term conditions or palliative care needs.
  • Have experience of delivering Occupational Therapy in a range of settings ideally including lone working and community work.
  • Have experience of assessing and managing needs in relation to safe moving and handling.

  • Demonstrate experience of working in a palliative care setting/or with people with palliative care needs.
  • Demonstrate Occupational Therapy knowledge and skills relevant to or transferrable to the field of palliative care.

Requirements

The Specialist Occupational Therapist will have:

  • A diploma/BSc Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Be registered with HCPC

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of Occupational Therapy in palliative care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and ability to conduct complex moving and handling risk assessments.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement, audit and service development to ensure high clinical standards.
  • Travel between the two hospice sites as needed.

The Role

The Inpatient Clinical Services Secretary will:

  • Be a point of contact for patients, carers & other agencies/disciplines, communicating where there could be barriers to understanding.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative services to support clinical services in the inpatient setting, working closely with clinical and medical colleagues and liaising with external healthcare professionals
  • Be able to manage own workload effectively and efficiently, utilising established patterns of priority to support with competing demands
  • Contribute to timely and effective patient flow by supporting the administration for admissions and discharges from the inpatient unit using the electronic patient record.
  • Support the administration relating to the death of patients whilst on the inpatient unit liaising with relevant external stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Support with timely delivery of data/information requirements
  • Participate in the provision of cover and support clinical administration colleagues (staff and volunteers) in particular working closely with the Ward Clerk deputising as required in their absence.
  • Support clinical team leaders with ad hoc administrative tasks/projects to enable them to focus on clinical care.

Requirements

The Inpatient Clinical Services Secretary will:

  • Hold GCSE or equivalent grade A-C English Language
  • NVQ Level 3 in administration or RSA Level 3 or equivalent
  • Medical terminology qualification or relevant experience

The Inpatient Clinical Services Secretary will be able to:

  • Effectively manage their time and workload
  • Demonstrate experience of Microsoft packages. E.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams

  • Collect and deliver hospice supplies as and when necessary.
  • Transport patients to and from the hospice.
  • Set up rooms for meetings.
  • Be responsible for the upkeep and reporting of vehicle maintenance.
  • Convey patients as and when required for hospital appointments and home visits.
  • Carry out weekly, monthly and quarterly check lists.
  • Perform PAT testing and manage the equipment register
  • Work to statuary health and safety standards in line within our hospice policies

Requirements

The Bank Maintenance/Driver will;

  • Have a full clean driving license.
  • Have some experience of completing basic maintenance tasks
  • Be over the age of 25 for insurance purposes.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and be reliable and a team player.

Outpatient Assistant Practitioner

Outpatient Assistant Practitioner

Cross site

The Outpatient Assistant Practitioner will work as part of a Cross site Team- working at Heald Green, Little Hulton, and other outreach settings.

Salary

Hospice Band 4, £26,541 – £29,114 pro rata.

Competency Frameworks are used to determine pay levels on appointment to a post and also pay progression whilst in post. Individual competencies within the Competency Frameworks are aligned to qualifications, knowledge and skills.

The Role

As the Outpatient Assistant Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality palliative care to our patients. This non-occupational specific role has been developed to support our outpatient and outreach services. You will work autonomously within the clearly defined boundaries, without the need for daily supervision, taking responsibility for your tasks and supporting others within the care pathways.

The Outpatient Assistant Practitioner will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal colleagues and external referrers/stakeholders to support timely and efficient access to outpatient service provision and discharge from outpatient services.

The Person

We are looking for someone holds an Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care. You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in delivering health or social care in a similar role. If you have completed communication skills training, that would be an advantage.

In this role, you’ll need to be proactive, using your initiative to manage your time and workload effectively, especially when faced with competing tasks. Basic IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Teams, are important. Additionally, we value someone who can identify their own development needs and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.

You should have a solid understanding of specialist palliative care and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems, such as EMIS Web, and the ability to update care records accurately is essential. Maintaining strict confidentiality is a must, as is working with patients in a kind, empathetic, and person-centred way, aligning with our clinical strategy.

Introduction

At St Ann’s Hospice, there’s one thing that motivates us and that’s providing excellent care and support to those living with or affected by life-limiting Illnesses.

We are looking to recruit a sensitive and empathetic individual who will be committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness around the hospice. You will need to be willing to support the needs of our residents and have a good understanding of the importance of ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors:

The Role

  • Can you provide excellent stewardship to our fundraising supporters?
  • Can you effectively manage, empower and support our volunteers?
  • Can you identify new opportunities to help raise income and awareness for our hospice?
  • Are you willing to work collaboratively in a high performing team?
  • Most importantly, you must be wholeheartedly committed to and motived by the purpose and values of St Anns Hospice.

Requirements

  • Wide range of fundraising of experience, either in employment or volunteering
  • Working experience or education that demonstrates excellent communication and administration skills, abilities to meet deadlines, problem solving, managing a multiple stream of workloads and delivering successful results.
  • An understanding of various fundraising regulations including Data Protection, gambling and license laws and the Fundraising Regulator.
  • Experience of building strong, effective relationships.
  • Excellent IT skills, including the use of an organisational database.
  • Confident communication techniques including public speaking, delivering presentations, letter-writing and telephone skills.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Organisation skills with a track record of delivering projects on time.
  • A full driving license, with car insured for business use
  • A commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.
  • A flexible approach to work and be able to work out of hours as required (Time in Lieu policy in place).
  • Commitment and motivation to the values and purpose of the hospice.
