Moya Cole Hospice launches 2025 Light Up a Life appeal

Six remembrance services will take place in December

By Cathal Doherty on October 10, 2025

Moya Cole Hospice has launched its annual Light Up a Life appeal, which remembers loved ones through six beautiful, in-person ceremonies.

The appeal also raises much-needed funds for the hospice. The Light up a Life services will be held from the 7th to the 11th of December.

There is also the opportunity to dedicate a light to someone in our online Winter Forest, while making an invaluable donation to Moya Cole Hospice, and have their name recorded in the 2025 Book of Honour.

By joining the appeal, you can make a difference and help Moya Cole Hospice to continue to provide free care and support to those with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones.

Dedications can be made online in the Winter Forest, by phoning the Fundraising Team on 0161 498 3631, or via the form in our Light up a Life leaflet, which is available from our hospice and shops.

When you dedicate a light online, you will be able to choose which service you would like to attend and how many places you would like. This year’s services are an opportunity to come together in reflection and celebration of the lives of loved ones.

Steph Derbyshire is remembering her son, Nicholas who died at the Little Hulton hospice in 2022.

I will always remember how bright and homely the hospice felt when Nicholas went in. Nothing was too much trouble. I’ve been to a Light up a Life service before and for me, it’s all about giving back. I support the appeal because Moya Cole Hospice does such incredible work Steph Derbyshire, Moya Cole Hospice Supporter

The services will include songs from the choir, words from those in the hospice community, carols, a poem and the lighting of the tree. There will also be a moment of reflection where you can place a decoration on the tree in memory of your loved one.
