Job Summary
The Role
The People and Education Assistant will:
In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll be at the heart of our People and Education functions, ensuring smooth and compliant processes that enhance the experience of our employees and volunteers. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, respond to queries, and coordinate key activities such as:
- Respond to People and Education-related queries via phone, face to face, Teams and email, providing accurate information with reference to policies and agreed processes and procedures, signposting to relevant team members as needed
- Posting job adverts and supporting recruitment processes
- Issuing contracts and coordinating pre-employment checks
- Support the People Business Partners with case management activities, including preparing documentation, arranging meetings and tracking of actions where appropriate
- Administering changes and maintaining accurate records
- Coordinating and administrating education events and learning activities
- Generating reports and contributing to continuous improvement
Requirements
The People and Education Assistant will have:
- A good standard of general education to a minimum of GCSE grade C / 4 – A* / 9
- CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) or evidence equivalent practical experience
The People and Education Assistant will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience handling confidential information with discretion.
- Working knowledge of HR processes including recruitment, onboarding and leaver administration
- Working knowledge of compliance checking processes including DBS, Right to work and safeguarding
- Experience of using HR systems and databases – including data entry, maintaining records and generation reports
- Work confidently and efficiently with systems and data, maintaining accuracy and integrity
- The ability to travel independently to our two hospice sites

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS Check at the level appropriate to the role, the cost of which is covered by the hospice. Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff must work in accordance with their statutory roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding in accordance with the Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2023, The Care Act 2014, and Prevent Duty 2015.
