Trustee Opportunities

Trustee Opportunities – Moya Cole Hospice (Two Roles)

Shape the future of pioneering, compassionate end-of-life care across Greater Manchester.

Moya Cole Hospice is entering one of the most ambitious chapters in its history. As we relocate to a purpose-built hospice in Heald Green and shape the future of our Little Hulton site, we are seeking two exceptional Trustees to help guide our next phase of innovation, sustainability and impact.

About Moya Cole Hospice

Moya Cole Hospice is one of the largest and oldest hospices in the UK, providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to adults across Greater Manchester and parts of Cheshire.  Operating as an independent charity, we deliver care through our hospice sites in Heald Green and Little Hulton, alongside extensive community and outreach services. Only one-third of our income comes from the NHS, with the remainder raised through fundraising and supporter generosity.

In October 2025, we changed our name from St Ann’s Hospice to Moya Cole Hospice, honouring our inspirational founder and signalling a bold new chapter. With a new Chair appointed in December 2025 and a five-year strategy focused on innovation, financial sustainability, cultural excellence and sector leadership, we are positioning ourselves as a model for future hospice care.

The Board Opportunity

Trustees are collectively responsible for the governance, strategic direction and long-term sustainability of the hospice. Working closely with the Chair and Executive Leadership Team, the Board ensures the organisation remains financially robust, well governed and aligned to its charitable purpose.

We are now seeking two Trustees who will complement the existing Board and strengthen our capacity to deliver our strategy.

Trustee 1 – Commercial Growth & Income Generation

We are looking for a senior commercial leader or entrepreneur with experience in retail, consumer, FMCG, financial services, professional services or high-growth SMEs.

You will bring:

  • A strong understanding of income generation, trading models and sustainability
  • Commercial insight that supports financial viability and growth
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and support executive decision-making

Your contribution will be instrumental as we strengthen financial resilience and develop sustainable growth for the future.

Trustee 2 – Digital, Technology & Transformation

We are also seeking a senior leader with expertise in digital, technology, data, analytics or transformation.

You may have experience in:

  • E-commerce or digital platforms
  • AI, automation or data-driven transformation
  • Translating technology into practical, measurable outcomes

As we complete our new build and expand our ambition to lead in education, research and innovation, your perspective will help ensure technology and digital capability are harnessed effectively in service of outstanding person-centred care.

What We Are Looking For

Across both roles, we are seeking individuals who:

  • Bring significant senior leadership experience
  • Demonstrate strong strategic judgement and sound governance instincts
  • Embody curiosity, integrity and a readiness to think differently
  • Are aligned with our values and passionate about meaningful community impact

You may already have board experience, or you may be seeking your first Trustee role. If you bring relevant expertise, strategic thinking and a genuine commitment to our purpose, we warmly encourage you to express interest.

Why Join Us?

  • Shape strategy at one of the UK’s leading hospices
  • Create meaningful social impact across Greater Manchester & Cheshire
  • Support a charity at a transformational point of growth
  • Time commitment: 1–2 days/month
  • Pro bono (expenses reimbursed)

Our Commitment to Inclusion

Moya Cole Hospice is committed to fostering a workplace where everyone can thrive. We actively welcome and encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those relating to gender, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, socio-economic background and sexual orientation.

If you believe you can contribute but are unsure whether you meet every requirement, we encourage you to start a conversation.
