Monday to Sunday, including nights
Day – 7:00am – 7:30pm
Night – 7:00pm – 7:30am
* 11.5 hours per shift and a 60-minute break.

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work within the inpatient unit at our Little Hulton or Heald Green site, supporting patients and those close to them with a life limiting illness.
The Role
You will work closely with registered nurses as part of a compassionate, multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of high-quality specialist palliative care.
The Healthcare Assistant will:
- Support the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of person-centred palliative care.
- Provide care in a compassionate, sensitive and respectful manner.
- Work collaboratively with nurses and other professionals to ensure safe, timely and effective care.
- Build positive working relationships within the team to support patients and those close to them.
Requirements
You will be a compassionate and proactive Healthcare Assistant with a strong person-centred approach to palliative care.
The Healthcare Assistant will have:
- An interest in specialist palliative care and a commitment to compassionate practice.
- Experience working as a HCA in a hospital or similar care setting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with an understanding of confidentiality.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative to prioritise work.
- A willingness to work towards the Care Certificate and develop IT skills.
- An understanding of safeguarding and clinical governance.
- Flexibility to work; days, nights and unsocial hours.

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which is covered by the hospice.
Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff must work in accordance with their statutory roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding in accordance with the Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2023, The Care Act 2014, and Prevent Duty 2015.
