Light up a Life
Dedicate a light to someone you love this winter through our Light up a Life appeal.
Our Light up a Life appeal is a way for us to remember our loved ones at this special time of year.
You’re invited to join one of our Light up a Life services and dedicate a light to remember your loved one.
Make a dedication online by adding a light to our Winter Forest, along with a photo, message or memory, and you’ll be able to share your dedication with friends and family online. You can also dedicate a light anonymously if you wish.
All dedications received by Friday 21st November will be recorded in the 2025 Book of Honour, which will be on display at all the services and at both of our hospices next year.
Every donation made with a dedication means that we can continue to provide the very best care to our patients and their families.

We are truly moved by the beautiful and heartfelt dedications you’ve made to your loved ones in our Winter Forest this year.
Thanks to the number of touching tributes, we’ve added an extra tree to make space for them all. You can view the additional tree by selecting Page 2 on the Winter Forest.
Who will you remember?
Nicholas’s mum Steph explained how the hospice cared for her son, and why she’s supporting Light up a Life this year.
I will always remember how bright and homely the hospice felt when Nicholas went in. Nothing was too much trouble. I’ve been to a Light up a Life service before and for me, it’s all about giving back. I support the appeal because Moya Cole Hospice does such incredible work. Steph Derbyshire, Mum to Nicholas
Light up a Life services
We’re holding six special services of remembrance once again this year. The services offer a precious moment of quiet reflection and a chance to come together in remembrance and celebration of the lives of our loved ones. We would be delighted if you could join us.
When you dedicate a light online, you will be able to choose which service you would like to attend and how many places you would like.
- Manchester Cathedral on Sunday 7th December at 1pm, 2.30pm or 4pm
- Moya Cole Hospice, Little Hulton (outdoors) on Monday 8th December at 7pm
- St Peter’s Church, Hale on Wednesday 10th December at 7pm
- Moya Cole Hospice, Heald Green (outdoors) on Thursday 11th December at 7pm
The services will include songs from the choir, words from those in the hospice community, carols, a poem and the lighting of the tree. There will also be a moment of reflection where you can place a decoration on the tree in memory of your loved one.

Bereavement support
Many of us welcome talking to others when a person who is close has died – and usually rely on friends and family. But sometimes it can help to talk to someone who is not so closely involved. This is where we can help.
