Christmas tree recycling 2026

The Manchester Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme is back, and bigger than ever!

This January, we are once again working with national charity Just Helping to collect and recycle real Christmas trees to raise funds for Moya Cole Hospice, Francis House Children’s Hospice and other local charities in the community.

Residents are invited to register their real Christmas tree for collection, with donations warmly welcomed. Friendly volunteers will collect and recycle your tree, hassle-free – no trips to the tip, no needles in your car,  no waste! The trees are chipped and repurposed to support pathways and forest management in local parks, including Wythenshawe Park.

The January 2025 Manchester collection raised £117,000 for Greater Manchester charities by collecting 5,309 trees, with net proceeds distributed to Moya Cole Hospice, Francis House Children’s Hospice, JustHelping, and other local causes. Plus, a massive 84,944kg of CO2 emissions were saved. Our 2026 goal is even higher, and with your support, we hope to accomplish it.

The deadline for registering your tree is 11.59pm on Monday 5th January 2026.

Collection dates

Your tree will be collected by our volunteers between Friday 9th and Tuesday 13th January 2026.

Sponsorship & volunteering opportunities

We’re always looking for individuals and organisations that want to make a real difference locally. Join the Manchester Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme and align with a trusted, high-impact environmental and charitable initiative.

Opportunities include:

  • Marketing – help out with leafleting across local postcodes
  • Vans & drivers – sponsor a van, or help with driving and collecting trees on our collection days
  • Tree depot – unloading, chipping, tree surgeons
  • Refreshments – sponsor to keep our volunteers fuelled

A Very Stylish Christmas at John Lewis Cheadle

Kick off the festive season in style with an exclusive evening of fashion, fizz, and festive inspiration at John Lewis Cheadle.

Hosted by their expert Personal Styling and Home Design teams, A Very Stylish Christmas will feature a fabulous fashion talk, a dazzling Christmas tree dressing demonstration, and the chance to win in our raffle — all in support of a great cause.

Evening Schedule:

17:30 – 18:00 | Arrival & Welcome Fizz
Enjoy a complimentary glass of fizz as you arrive and get into the festive spirit.

18:00 – 18:10 | Welcome Remarks
Hear from the John Lewis team and a representative from our charity partner as we begin the evening.

18:10 – 18:35 | Fashion Talk
Our Personal Styling team will share their top tips for festive fashion and occasion wear must-haves.

18:35 – 19:00 | Christmas Tree Dressing
Be inspired by our Home Design experts as they reveal how to create a show-stopping Christmas tree and elevate your seasonal décor.

19:00 – 19:10 | Raffle
Don’t miss your chance to win a prize in our charity raffle before we wrap up the evening.

19:10 – 20:00 | Late Night Shopping
John Lewis will be open until 8pm for an opportunity Christmas shopping

Run MediaCity Christmas 5k & 10k

Grab your Santa hat or reindeer antlers and join hundreds of festive runners at the RunThrough Run MediaCity Christmas 5k & 10k in support of Moya Cole Hospice.

We’re proud to be the charity partner of this celebrated event, starting and finishing in the heart of MediaCity, Salford. You’ll head out around a flat, quick 2.5km loop that runs over the canal and past the Imperial War Museum, ITV and BBC television studios. Each kilometre will be accurately marked out and there are plenty of helpers to encourage you on your way to the finish line.

Run in memory of a loved one, for a personal challenge, or simply to support the compassionate care we provide at Moya Cole Hospice. Every mile you conquer helps us continue to offer essential support to our patients and their families.

Charity places

As the charity partner of Run MediaCity, we have discounted charity places costing £15 available for runners to claim.

We ask that you aim to fundraise raise a minimum of the targets below. Our Events Team are here to to help you achieve this, every step of the way.

  • 5km: aim to raise £125
  • 10km: aim to raise £200

Registration fees and sponsorship will help us to continue providing our vital services to thousands of people each year at a time when they need them the most.

On Wednesday 1st October 2025, we will be changing our name from St Ann’s Hospice to Moya Cole Hospice. As this event is taking place after 1st October, you can expect our name and branding at the event to look different.
