Keep on Collecting

Become a fundraising legend and help raise vital funds for St Ann’s by hosting a virtual bucket collection throughout August.

Sadly, this year we won’t be able to host our regular collections at our annual community events and supermarkets, but that doesn’t mean you can’t join Team St Ann’s and help raise much-needed funds that enable our teams to continue to deliver outstanding care and support to our patients and their loved ones.

To join our virtual fundraiser, simply click our Just Giving page and click start fundraising today on the right-hand side of the page. You can raise money from wherever you want by sharing the Just Giving link with your friends, family and colleagues. You can get creative with raising funds by updating your social media stories with live videos.

If you want to get involved with the virtual bucket collection either click the links above or email our Events Team at events@sah.org.uk or call 0161 498 3631.

Step Up

Our St Ann’s nurses walk an average of two miles a day when caring for our patients. Can you walk 30 days in their shoes, and take on our virtual challenge?

Dates: 1st – 30th September

Location: Wherever you want!

What is Step Up?

Simply set yourself a target distance to walk – or run – in the month of September and help us by raising as much money as you can in sponsorship. Choose your target distance a day, and do it your way! Perhaps you could try and match our nurses and take on two miles a day for thirty days? Depending on your stride this is approx 4,000 steps a day. Or, you could try and walk the distance equivalent to walking from our Heald Green site, to our Little Hulton site, to our Neil Cliffe site – 40 miles – in a week – that’s approx 6 miles a day.

It’s up to you! After all, it’s your challenge. 30 days your way, pick your distance, put on your shoes, and you’re off!

Why take part?

Every donation received will enable us to give specialist care to our patients and support their loved ones. Your health will benefit too…

According to NHS Guidelines, adults should aim to be active daily.

The benefits include:

  • Reduces the risk of a range of diseases e.g. coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes
  • Helps maintain a healthy weight
  • Helps maintain the ability to perform everyday tasks with ease
  • Improves self-esteem
  • Reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety

The staff at The Foundry stepped up in support of our colleague, whose partner was diagnosed with a rare cancer and received exceptional care at St Ann’s. We wanted to help them both and thank St Ann’s for their amazing work.

The Accumulator Challenge

The Accumulator Challenge is back for October 2019!

How much can you raise with £100?

All the money our teams accumulate will help St Ann’s continue to provide care to the thousands of local patients and their families we support each year.

Last year, law firm, Clarke Willmott won the accolade of ‘The Ultimate Accumulator’, raising an amazing £6,040. Thirty keen staff members saddled up on static bikes at their Manchester offices to cycle the equivalent distance between each of Clarke Willmott’s offices across the country. They even managed to rope in the presenter, Gethin Jones, to gain some extra publicity for the fundraising challenge!

We loved the Accumulator Challenge and of course, as lawyers, we like to win, but the main story here is the amount local businesses can raise in a short period of time when they get together and channel their efforts. We stand proudly behind the work St Ann’s does as many of our staff, including me, have had family members needing end of life hospice care. It was very humbling to visit the Heald Green hospice on the awards night and hear real-life stories about how fundraising really makes a difference.

Fancy having a weekly gin trolley at your work?

Watch this film featuring Jon, at Eversheds Sutherland, who explains why they took part in the Accumulator Challenge and some top tips!

We love the sound of the gin trolley! What would your tips be to raise money in the workplace?

Here’s a few top tips on how your team can be successful at the Accumulator Challenge:

  • Get active and organise a sports day! Hire out a sports hall with the money, and charge people to take part or watch.
  • As the Accumulator Challenge takes place in October, why not embrace the Halloween theme! Have a fancy dress day in the office or throw a Halloween themed party.
  • Plan lots of fun and varied events throughout the month. This brings in more sponsorship money and it’s a great way to bond as a team.
  • Try something new to keep your organisation engaged. It doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to be fun!

Do you have what it takes to compete with local businesses to raise the most money and become The Ultimate Accumulator 2019?

The challenge offers a great team building opportunity, as well as an opportunity for competitive colleagues to put their ideas to the test. Sign up below or by calling 0161 498 3631 or emailing corporate@sah.org.uk.
