Bideford Community Centre raise enough to pay for a day at Moya Cole Hospice
It costs approximately £20,000 to keep the doors of Moya Cole Hospice open each and every day
Bideford Community Centre were invited to Moya Cole Hospice in Heald Green to celebrate the fact they have raised over £20,000, meaning they have paid for a day of care at the hospice.
The total amount raised over the last number of years by the community centre is just over £23,300.
A celebration event took place in the Being You Centre of the Heald Green Hospice where Community Fundraiser Samantha Lanigan thanked the group for their hard work and dedication to Moya Cole Hospice.
“It costs approximately £20,000 a day to keep our doors open and to provide care to those in our community who need it. Without the help of groups such as Bideford Community Centre, we would not be able to provide this care. On behalf of Moya Cole Hospice, I would like to thank them for their generosity,” she said.
Christine McDonagh from the Bideford Community Centre spoke about why they have given so generously to Moya Cole Hospice throughout the years.
“On behalf of all the volunteers, our service users, our supermarkets who support us, to all those who heard we were fundraising and offered to help, we would like to say to Moya Cole a massive, massive thank you.
The doctors, nurses, and medical staff do a fantastic job but I’d also like to thank the unsung heroes, the cleaners, the volunteers, catering staff, the laundry, gardeners, the fundraisers, and all those who do good work to make Moya Cole such a wonderful place Christine McDonagh, Bideford Community Centre
Director of Clinical Services at Moya Cole Hospice, Emma Dixon also thanked Bideford Community Centre during the celebration event.
“You here already know what the hospice does, both in the community, but also to those of you who have received care for your loved ones or indeed yourselves over the years.
“I know firsthand what our teams do. And without your contribution, without your ongoing support, and I know it has been going on for a very long time, we wouldn’t be able to provide the care to those out there in our units. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has been great to meet you all,” Emma said.
