Samantha to run 100 miles in memory of two friends
Samantha Morris will be taking on the Cheshire Ring Ultra 100 in memory of her friends Michelle and Bob who died at St Ann's Hospice
A supporter of St Ann’s will be pushing her limits as she takes on a 100-mile run in memory of two friends who died in the care of the hospice.
Samantha Morris is currently training for the Cheshire Ring Ultra 100, a GB Ultras Event, taking place on September 27th.
The event takes place along six different canals, starting and finishing in Media City. She will have 30 hours to complete the event, meaning she will be running throughout the night.
“In June this year, I lot my wonderful friend, Michelle,” Samantha said. “She had fought it on and off for over 20 years.”
Michelle was not just a friend, she was family and also godmother to my son. We had so many laughs over the years, but she was there when I went through tough times, and it was my turn to be there for her Samantha Morris, St Ann's Hospice Supporter
“For the last six weeks of her life, Michelle was in the care of St Ann’s Hospice. They go over and above in their care and kindness and attentiveness. Nothing was too much trouble. I watched them do their utmost to make Michelle’s last weeks the most comfortable and pain-free.”
Samantha continued: “We also lost my wonderful friend Bob, my best friend Chris’s husband. I miss his cheeky smile, twinkling blue eyes and wicked sense of humour. Bob too, was taken care of by St Ann’s Hospice.”
As part of the Cheshire Ring Ultra 100 challenge, there are 11 checkpoints. There is a time limit to reach each checkpoint.
“I will have to overcome a fear of running in the dark, which is another challenge in itself,” Samantha said.
I will be thinking of Michelle and Bob every single step of the way, and knowing those two, they will be pushing me on saying you can do this, along with all my other loved ones who have passed and are guiding me on in spirit Samantha Morris, St Ann's Hospice Supporter
“One hundred miles is Manchester to Birmingham or to Blackpool and back. It’s a bit of a way, but I want to push myself just as I did when I did ten marathons in ten days, to not just do it for myself but to show others that anything is possible if you really want to do it.
“Please donate what you can. Every single penny means the world to this wonderful charity and me,” she added.
