Timeline of how our £2m Build it Together goal was reached!

This week we announced the exciting news that we have reached the Build it Together appeal’s £2m goal.

The Build it Together (BiT) goal of £2m being reached would not have been possible without the kindness, and generosity of the people within our community, those within the locality of St Ann’s Heald Green and those who live further afield. 

Without this appeal, the new St Ann’s Hospice building in Heald Green wouldn’t be possible. 

Below is a timeline that mentions a number of fundraisers over the previous three years that showcases exactly how we reached our £2m target. 

Timeline 

June 2022: The St Ann’s Hospice BiT appeal is launched. Actors Lee Boardman and Jennifer James are alongside to help launch the appeal. 

September 2022: Stockport County supporter, Eddie Powell organises football memorbilia fair to aid the BiT appeal. The event raises £2,000 thanks to the generosity of Stockport County, its volunteers, and supporters. 

October 2022: Yvonne Peet runs Manchester Half Marathon in aid of St Ann’s Hospice. She raises over £700 for the BiT appeal. 

January 2023: Build it Together appeal reaches £500,000 milestone! 

April 2023: St Ann’s Hospice supporter Gabriella holds a musical extravaganza to help raise funds for our BiT appeal. 

May 2023: Tram and Bus adverts promoting the BiT appeal start popping up across Greater Manchester! 

May 2023: Supporter Elaine Land opens her beautiful garden to the public to raise funds for the BiT appeal. 

July 2023: Barrie and Claire Hawker embarked on the incredible West Highland Way, comprising a 96 mile walk which they completed in just 8 days. Rallying together their friends and family, the couple raised over £1200 for the BiT. 

August 2023: Manchester Central, one of the UK’s leading events venues, chose St Ann’s Hospice as its Charity of Year until 2025, aiming to raise £10,000 for the BiT. 

October 2023: Spade in the Ground event held at the hospice, marking a new era for St Ann’s in Heald Green. 

October 2023: The BiT officially reaches £750,000 milestone 

October 2023: Autumn Fair raises over £4,000 for the BiT appeal. 

November 2023: Cheadle-based business loan company, Together donate £50,000 towards a family overnight room in the new hospice. They previously sponsored three bedrooms in the new St Ann’s Hospice building, totaling £105,000. 

December 2023: Three year partnership with the Trafford Centre ends. It raised almost £120,000 for the hospice (ongoing care inclusive). 

December 2023: Sesame Bankhall Group raise £33,000 to support St Ann’s Hospice’s Build It Together campaign. 

January 2024: £5,100 raised by Offerton Methodist Choir. 

February 2024: The Build It Together Appeal reaches £1m! 

June 2024: Construction of the new hospice commences. 

November 2024: The AK-OK 80s Rewind Charity Disco organised by a group of friends including long-time Old Trafford stadium announcer, Alan Keegan, raises over £18,000. 

November 2024: John Lewis Fashion Show raises almost £4,000 for BiT. 

November 2024: St Ann’s Hospice welcome the public for first look at ongoing construction of new building. 

January 2025: Bramall Park Golf Club raise over £13,000 for the BiT, continuing their long tradition of supporting the hospice. 

January 2025: Two St Ann’s supporters went ‘down under’ to take on a vertigo-inducing challenge to raise funds for the hospice. Ally Elliot and Jeff Bor raise over £2,000. 

February 2025: St Ann’s Receives Over £13,000 from the Incredible Team at Tour de Manc. 

March 2025: The BiT appeal reaches £1,500,000 milestone! 

May 2025: St Ann’s staff visit new hospice site to see patient bedrooms. 

July 2025: Clarins host skincare evening at Heald Green hospice in aid of the BiT appeal. 

July 2025: St Ann’s Hospice Festival Choir hosts its final event. Their total money raised towards the BiT event is enough to push them over the amount needed to sponsor a bedroom. 

August 2025: Barbara Thackray, 87, runs in the Altrincham 10k in aid of the BiT appeal. Barbara has raised over £40,000 for the hospice (donations to ongoing care inclusive) following what was her final run in aid of St Ann’s. 

September 2025: The Build it Together appeal officially reaches its £2,000,000 milestone! 

The above timeline is a mere selection of fundraisers and donations towards the Build it Together appeal. It would be impossible to include every single donation or fundraiser to the hospice as the way in which the community got behind the appeal is beyond overwhelming to say the least. The team at the hospice thanks every single person who contributed to the appeal since its inception.
