Michael felt ‘great’ following Walk 100 Miles in September challenge
The St Ann’s Hospice Walk 100 Miles in September challenge is fast approaching, and with plenty of time left to sign up, get inspired by Michael Hunt, who took part in the challenge last year
Michael Hunt took on the Walk 100 Miles in September challenge last year in memory of two friends who died at St Ann’s Hospice.
Michael raised over £1,000 during the challenge through sponsorship. He also saw the 100 Miles as a way to challenge himself.
“I had been through a rough patch myself and had spent 6 weeks in hospital and I wanted to prove to myself that I am still here, and that I am still able,” Michael said.
“I was given a second chance and I wanted to push myself.”
Michael said that ever since he retired, he has been an active walker.
“When I achieved the target I just felt great that I was able to do it.”
Michael said it was joy as time went on, seeing the figure raised on his Just Giving page increase.
“That was sort of an incentive in itself to complete the challenge. I was well pleased with what I raised.”
I wanted to do this for St Ann’s because even though my two friends died there and it was a sad time, their families were so appreciative of how they were looked after and to me it just sounded like a worthwhile cause Michael Hunt, St Ann's Hospice Supporter
