Night of entertainment planned to mark 25 years since Emma’s death
Friends of Emma Maloney, who died at the age of 24 in 2001, are planning an evening of entertainment to mark her anniversary and what would have been her 50th birthday
Emma Maloney died of cancer on November 22, 2001 at the age of 24 at Moya Cole Hospice in Heald Green, Stockport.
This year is the 25th anniversary of her death and what would have been her 50th birthday.
To mark the occasion, family, friends and the wider community will come together on Saturday, November 21, for Emma’s Night – an evening of live entertainment, dancing, fundraising and shared memories, celebrating the joy Emma brought to so many lives.
Emma was diagnosed with skin cancer at the age of 17, located on her back. It was removed and she had the all-clear has she went five years without cancer. She then began getting headaches and was later diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour.
“She was iconic. She was the one in our group who would bring the energy, she was so full of life. She loved a gossip, she was just a character, a real character,” Emma’s friend, Faye said.
On December 16, 2026, Emma would have celebrated her 50th birthday – a milestone that makes this year’s event especially meaningful for everyone who knew and loved her.
Emma's Night will bring together Emma's family and friends, friends of friends and members of the wider local community from Hale, Bowdon, Altrincham and across Greater Manchester for a glamorous, fun-filled evening celebrating Emma's life and raising vital funds for Moya Cole Hospice Faye, Emma's Friend and Co-Organiser
