Barry and Mitzi Smith have won £2,000 through playing the Moya Cole Hospice lottery.
The couple have been playing the lottery since the late 1990s when a lottery representative on behalf of the hospice called around to their home.
“We signed up because it was our way of supporting the hospice,” Mitzi said. “I never expected to win anything; we never win anything.”
“Earlier this year Moya Cole Hospice sent us a letter and I assumed it was them sending us general communication.
Barry opened the letter and told me that we won the lottery. We were absolutely thrilled Mitzi Smith, Moya Cole Hospice Supporters
Barry and Mitzi have not yet decided what they are going to spend the money on but they have a house in County Mayo, Ireland that according to Mitzi, “could do with some TLC”.
The Moya Cole Hospice Lottery costs £2 weekly for one play adding up to a £8.68 monthly direct debit. The additional 68p paid each month will accumulate to pay for additional draws in 5 week months.
Every week there are 35 lucky winners, including a weekly £2,000 jackpot – plus there’s the chance to win a rollover prize which starts at £1,000 and reaches up to £10,000.
For every weekly draw, there is a cut off for entry with tickets bought from hospice site receptions or our shops being Wednesday at 5pm. For any other methods of payments such as telephone or mail, the cut-off is 5pm on a Thursday. The lottery is drawn every Friday afternoon.
By joining our lottery, you’ll be making a continuous difference to the lives of our patients and their families.
