Little Hulton councillors for Salford City Council, Rob Sharpe and Tony Davies, paid a visit to Moya Cole Hospice.

Cllr Sharpe and Cllr Davies were invited to learn more about the ambitions as well as the challenges the hospice is facing, and what the charity means to the local and wider communities surrounding Little Hulton. They were also given a tour of the facility.

We were kindly invited by Rachel, the Chief Executive to meet the leadership team at the hospice and to come and look around the facilities. I think everyone is well aware that the facilities are top-notch here, and everyone is very much in favour of this place. So, we’re here to see how we can support the hospice more so they can provide palliative and end-of-life care that is much needed Cllr Rob Sharpe, Salford City Council
We had a relative who was given the best support here. This place means so much to everybody here. If you speak to anyone in Little Hulton, they’ll know somebody who has been here or has had support from here and it’s been fantastic seeing the brilliant work that everybody does here Cllr Tony Davies, Salford City Council

Chief Executive of Moya Cole Hospice, Rachel McMillan, was on site to welcome the councillors and speak with them about the hospice.

“It was lovely to meet Cllr Sharpe and Cllr Davies and to see how passionate they were about the work we do here at the hospice, and we thank them for their commitment to supporting us into the future.

“We spoke with them about some of the challenges that we are facing as an organisation, such as the ongoing funding crisis, which is affecting hospices across the United Kingdom and how we need a reformed funding model, as currently, like many hospices, we only receive about a third of our funding from the NHS. Both councillors were sympathetic to our cause, and it is heartening to hear that we have their support as an organisation,” Rachel said.
