The St Ann’s Walk 100 Miles in September challenge is swiftly approaching, and with sign-up still open, do you have what it takes to walk 100 miles in a month?

One of the hospice’s most popular fundraisers sees challengers walk a total of 100 miles or more while raising much needed funds through sponsorship for St Ann’s Hospice.

There is no registration fee, and every penny raised will make a difference to the patients of St Ann’s and their loved ones.

Fundraising for the challenge is easy all you need to do is ask your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to sponsor you throughout the month.

To sign up for the challenge, join our private Facebook group and follow the instructions to register for the challenge.

St Ann’s will send you a free Walk 100 miles t-shirt to wear with pride throughout the challenge.

Complete your challenge during September and share your progress in the St Ann’s private Facebook group where the hospice will support you all the way.

Raise £50 or more in sponsorship to receive a special medal! And if you are not on Facebook then don’t worry as you can still sign up, here.

Michael Hunt who was 79 when he took on the challenge last year, raised over £1,000.

“I had been through a rough patch myself and had spent six weeks in hospital and I wanted to prove to myself that I am still here, and that I am still able,” he said.

“I wanted to do this for St Ann’s because even though my two friends died there and it was a sad time, their families were so appreciative of how they were looked after and to me it just sounded like a worthwhile cause,” he added.

Janet O’Keefe took on the challenge in memory of her mum who died at the hospice. She raised over £1,250 for the hospice.

“When I saw the challenge, I just thought, well, they gave my mum a lot of benefits and I think of her every time I walk past the hospice and I felt it would keep me motivated to carry on walking if I put it out there that I’m doing this for St Ann’s,” she said.
